Permanent Rail Engineering was set up to gather, adapt and develop current transport knowledge and apply it to some of the varied challenges that face today’s society, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero. This means exploring ideas that are at the forefront of engineering technology but also includes exploiting the transport innovations of the past.
We are a small group of engineers, planners, designers and thinkers united by a common goal: for transport not only to be sustainable, but to be a powerful tool to bring people together and improve their livelihoods.
Our work includes submitting consultation responses where there is a key transport angle, providing clear information about sustainable transport to policymakers and creating resources for action groups and campaigners. We have also established a strong public outreach presence, attempting to convey ideas about sustainable transport in an easily-digestible format.
